Category Manager - Contracts & Negotiations
Develops recommendations for global supply chain strategies: including sourcing strategies and global supplier network capabilities for key commodities and spend categories to achieve broad business objectives. Participates in development of supply chain strategies to support new offerings, improve service and reduce costs. Leads work groups from across the enterprise to address highly complex interdisciplinary issues affecting significant business issues. Executes action plans for contracting, supplier management, business partnering and savings. Executes strategies to address feedback from supply chain and business stakeholders to ensure objectives are met. Provides expert supply chain perspective and makes recommendations to Supply Chain management and business colleagues. Maintains excellent working relationships with strategic business stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and to support the business in achievement of its outcomes. Provides supply chain support to the business in pursuit of new highly complex business opportunities. Negotiates highly complex, corporate-wide agreements with suppliers encompassing key program specifications, functional objectives and savings. Follows Corporate, Regional and Supply Chain policies and procedures. Identifies policy/procedure gaps and brings them to the attention of Supply Chain management. Makes recommendations and/or decisions regarding supply chain strategies and issues. Collects metrics to optimize sourcing, supplier activities and efficiencies, and works collaboratively with global and regional team members to prioritize and drive implementation. Serves as global expert on industry best practices and technology trends to team members and business partners.
Essential Job Functions
Executes global supply chain functions including policies, practices and procedures ensuring financial and strategic goals are attained. Executes global supply chain functions including global sourcing, category management, contracting, supplier management, business partnering, organizational alignment and staff performance to support supply chain strategies.
Provides support to the business in pursuit of highly complex new business opportunities.
Develops the Supply Chain agenda in support of key objectives across assigned internal customers
Provides an expert Supply Chain perspective on major projects/contracts/categories/supplier performance management/spend strategies when collaborating with executive management and business colleagues.
Accountable for coordinating/completing major contracts impacting significant global/ category business matters
Implements supply chain strategies to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
Drives use and continued adoption of global supplier contracts.
Builds and maintains relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders. Influences decision-making and builds partnerships across the business. Communicates global SCM strategies, focus areas and performance to the Business.
Collaborates with business stakeholders to achieve savings targets, improve supplier performance, and maximize supplier collaboration to drive the best business outcomes.
Executes best practice policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with corporate governance model and maximum benefit to the company. Complies with established company and supply chain policies and procedures. Identifies policy/procedure gaps and recommends revisions to senior Supply Chain management to address the gaps.
Bachelorâ€™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelorâ€™s degree in related field preferred
Thirteen or more years of related experience, i.e., technology, business development, strategic alliances/partnering, procurement or professional services
Strong analytical, problem solving and leadership skills
Proven success working as part of a team
Experience working with concepts, practices, and procedures in areas of responsibility
Demonstrated strong vendor selection, sourcing and contracting, supplier management, and negotiation skills.
Ability to understand and relate technical solutions, analyze benefits of alternative solutions, and effectively communicate recommendations to both CSC and customer management
Global and/or large enterprise account experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed to interface with internal executives and high-level customer representatives; also to analyze, interpret, and present business strategies, best practices, and technical product and service information solutions.
Excellent strategic planning skills
Ability to publicly represent company with internal and external clients
Ability to use own judgment and initiative in problem resolution
