Macquarie has an immediate opening for a Contracts Officer supporting its petroleum business in the Americas. The preferred candidate will be responsible for reviewing, commenting on and administering crude oil, condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLS), renewable identification numbers (RINS) and refined oil products purchase and sales commercial agreements relating to transactions in the Americas (“Petroleum Agreements”).
The primary responsibilities of the Contract Officer will include the following:
Coordinating directly with the business and the lawyers to understand and document standard and bespoke Petroleum Agreements;
Routing Petroleum Agreements for approval;
Reviewing and responding to third party purchase and sale, exchange and buy/sell confirmations and accompanying general terms and conditions;
Identifying and communicating risks in third party requests for proposals (RFPs) to internal stakeholders;
Preparing and routing for approval offers in response to RFPs and third party tenders and negotiating the terms of Macquarie’s bids;
Ensuring that all contracts, confirmations and communications are in compliance with internal policies and procedures and have the proper internal approvals;
Review and comment on various maritime agreements such as charter party and letters of indemnity;
Interacting with commercial, legal, tax, market operations, compliance, credit, and risk management organization personnel to ensure all contract risks are identified and addressed
Bachelors Degree in a business-related field
5 years oil trading industry experience
5 years experience reviewing and administering purchase and sale, exchange and buy/sell confirmations and general terms and condition
5 years experience responding to RFPs and tenders
Experience with Latin America markets a plus
Strong oral and written communication skills and comfort with negotiating contractual terms
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with deal input systems
Ability to operate in a fast pace, sometimes stressful, environment
Ability to provide a high level of customer service, both for internal and external customers
Acts with a high level of personal accountability and ownership for contract process
