The Contract Specialist performs and provides a variety of services related to contract management of the Hospital. He/she prepares draft agreements using attorney prepared templates, maintains contract management software, procures and negotiates agreements under the direction of the CEO, assists management, administration and Hospital legal counsel in addressing contractual discrepancies and special assignments.

Reviews, evaluates and negotiates contracts under the direction of the CEO or CFO.

Reviews contracts at the request of administration.

Negotiates pricing and contract terms with vendors as necessary, working closely with the required managers/senior leaders to ensure contractual compliance and accurate pricing throughout the procurement process.

Reports all changes and recommendations to the CEO or CFO for final approval.

Demonstrates careful judgment in disposition and/or additional required action.

Reviews precedent information; correspondence reflects thoughtful preparation in portraying current Hospital goals and objectives.

Creates draft physician agreements and offer letters at the direction of the CEO.

Drafts physician offer letters within board policy, utilizing necessary tools for compensation and benefit analysis.Review offer letters with CEO for final approval, prepare on Hospital letter head and communicate with physician when necessary.

At the direction of the CEO, creates draft agreements, in a timely manner, utilizing templates drafted by Hospital legal counsel.

Demonstrates mature judgment while communicating with physicians to clarify and discuss draft agreements.

Reviews and approves various invoices to ensure billing is in line with negotiated contractual pricing.

Assists Accounts Receivable Clerk in reviewing and correcting payables.

Maintains contract management software system.

Adds new contracts to the contracts management software system.

Acts as the administrator of the contracts management software system.

Performs a wide variety of clerical assignments in the absence of the Administrative Assistant to the CEO, which are often confidential in nature.

Any information related to staff members or Hospital operations is maintained as confidential.

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of composition and preparation of correspondence, reports and statements.

Office practices reflect efficient work practice and effective time utilization; demonstrates proficiency in use of computer and related office equipment.

Competent in all Microsoft Office products, with emphasis in Excel, Word and Power Point.

Engages in a variety of internal/external hospital contacts.Obtains or relays information to individuals who are influential or important to the Hospital.

All contacts are handled professionally and with courtesy; handles difficult situations with tact.

Understands the organizational and political structure of the hospital; demonstrates ability to use this knowledge in interpersonal situations.

Demonstrates good judgment in all interactions.

Completes special projects as needed, such as:

Critical Access Hospital designation conversion

Complete all required applications, collects data from various departments and submits to appropriate agencies.

Correspond with agencies throughout process to ensure process is being followed appropriately

Maintain records and notes throughout process for reference.

Navigates and assists managers with MD Buyline equipment/quote search.

Performs other duties as assigned.



Associates Degree - preferred


Two (2) years’ experience as contract administrator support person or related business support position.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit for 6 hours and stand/walk for 2 hours or more per day.

Must be able to bend, reach overhead and kneel.

Must be able to push/pull and lift up to 35 pounds.

Manual dexterity is necessary for each and skillful use of the hands when working with equipment.

Special Demands:

Ability to work well with others and to perform a variety of assigned duties.

Advanced skills with all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and Power Point applications.

Thorough understanding of Outlook.

The original main hospital in King City was a 22-bed single-story facility built in 1941 by Dr. L. M. Andrus. In 1962, George L. Mee's son donated proceeds from a cattle sale as seed money for a new hospital facility.
