Profile

Position Summary Position is responsible for assisting with monitoring compliance with City contracts governing the collection and disposal of residential refuse, leaf collection, mowing, street sweeping, snow plowing, median maintenance, and other private service contractors. Position Responsibilities Oversees and monitors Solid Waste Collection Contracts for all eleven City trash districts, dealing with DPW staff and private trash hauling companies, and responding to and resolving citizen complaints. Monitors the daily operation of the area to which assigned. Answers, screens, researches, informs, advises, records, processes and follow-ups all customer requests efficiently and expeditiously as received by work-orders, telephone, mail or personally from citizens, elected officials, agencies and City\/County employees. Acts as liaison and mediation activities among complainant, City Departments and private vendors. Tracks and monitors contracts. Comprehends terms of contract, be willing to explain them to citizens and contracted vendors, Arrives at logical solutions while interpreting contract to resolve issues. Holds vendors accountable to terms of the contracts, impose liquidated damages when appropriate, and perform these monitoring and oversight functions with a high level of integrity. Contracts involved include residential refuse collection, leaf collection, mowing, street sweeping, snow plowing, median maintenance, and other private service contracts as assigned. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) year experience in contract management, or one (1) year experience in field or property inspections, or two (2) years experience in customer service. Effective communication skills, ability to negotiate\/ persuade others to take action, ability to read and follow maps, and good reading comprehension are required. A valid Indiana driver's license is also required. Independent Judgment Independent judgement is required on a daily basis. This position responds to citizen complaints and is required to determine the validity of each complaint based on a set of trash collection guidelines. This position also estimates the amount of liquidated damages, if any, that needs to be assessed on a vendor for failure to perform duties per contract. BENEFITS All rates are bi-weekly.
