Job Summary
This opening for a Senior Contracts Manager is within the Rockwell Collins Commercial Systems Contracts Department. The Commercial Systems Contracts Department is divided into Air Transport Systems (ATS) Contracts and Business and Regional Systems (BRS) Contracts. ATS Contracts supports airframes who build larger commercial aircraft such as Boeing or Airbus, and airlines operating those larger aircraft. BRS Contracts supports the airframes building smaller commercial aircraft such as Bombardier or Embraer, and airlines operating those smaller aircraft. Our customers are located in every corner of the globe. The successful candidate may be placed within either organization initially, however, over time, it is likely the candidate will transition between ATS and BRS Contracts and may be assigned a mix of job responsibilities resulting in supporting ATS and BRS customers concurrently.
Job Responsibilities
Besides drafting and negotiating contracts for new equipment sales, aftermarket services and support, and repair services, and amendments thereto, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Contract and proposal letters
Licenses for use of Rockwell Collins Intellectual Property
Contract interpretation
Administrative tasks such as Contract Summaries and Briefs, contract filing both hard copy and electronic
Providing recommendations and guidance to various parts of the organization up to and including executive leadership
Tracking and reporting on contract milestones, including working with accounts receivable and order administrators to issue invoices
Review of proposals created by other departments
Notification of pricing changes
Verification of contract and catalog pricing
Ensuring compliance with Rockwell Collins policies and procedures
Ensuring compliance with US Export Rules and Regulations
Resolving contract related issues with customers (both internal and external)
Special projects as may come up from time to time such as due diligence for mergers or acquisitions, creation of policies and procedures, providing assistance to other departments within Commercial Systems or other Rockwell Collins divisions as required, Joint Venture activities and support
Collaboration with other contract managers.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in appropriate field or in absence of a degree, six years related experience
Adaptable, able to meet customer needs while complying with policies and procedures.
Flexible, you may have nonstandard work hours. You may be expected to work outside your normal working hours on occasion. Some travel may be required. What is on your to do list can get reprioritized in minutes or seconds buy a phone call, instant message, e-mail, or somebody stopping by your office.
Team focused, not only in support the Contracts team, but also in support of program managers, account managers, and our customers. From time to time you will work with cross functional teams often from different backgrounds and cultures.
Able to communicate clearly, concisely, with no ambiguity, whether the communication is spoken or written. It is essential to be able to reduce complex concepts to language understandable to 8 th grade graduates. Our customers often do not speak or read English, or English is a second language.
Selfless, the current Contracts group is a high performing group who shares with each other and relies on each other. We know any change to the group will change the group dynamics; it is important for the group dynamics to not be negatively impacted so we can continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
Responsive, there needs to be a sense of urgency. Each customer believes their need is the most important need and you will put their need ahead of all others.
Customer Driven, willing to work to find solutions workable for the customer (whether internal or external) and Rockwell Collins.
Contributory, bringing skills, ideas, and knowledge not in the group today and willing to share those skills, ideas, and knowledge with the group.
Respectful, we have chosen contracting as our profession, being in contracts makes you no better or worse than anyone performing any other function whether at Rockwell Collins or at our customers.
Confident, you will interface with all departments within Rockwell Collins. You will interface regularly with the Office of General Counsel, Risk Management, Export Compliance, Program Managers, Account Managers, and Controllers and must be comfortable doing so.
