San Diego?s Military Economy Booming by www.EmploymentCrossing.com
San Diego’s color may shine a little more red, white, and blue do to its exploding economy thanks to the US Armed Forces. The study conducted by the University of California at San Diego’s School of International Relations and released by the San Diego Military Advisory Council showed that the combined union of the military and civilian support brings about a $25 billion dollar economic impact to the city.
27% of all jobs in the county are connected to the Defense Department presence in the region. Navy Region Southwest Commander Rear Adm. Len Hering stated, “This report underscores what I think we have known for a very long time, that there is no place else in the country for a more dynamic, mutually supportive civilian-military relationship than what we all enjoy here in San Diego,”. “In short, we could ask for no better partner.”
SDMAC plans to use the report as a basis for yearly updates.
If you are considering a career in contract management, you'll find that you need to think more about the soft skills required for the position than certification or experience. Contract management requires numerous skills to do the job right; the more time you spend thinking about the soft skills in question, the better off you will be when it comes to taking advantage of opportunities to succeed and excel.
The concept of open innovation advocates that firms should purchase patents or licenses of inventions made by other companies instead of using their own research and resources. This will save the company valuable manpower and time, and will enable it to complete its projects faster. Moreover, inventions made by the company that are not being used should be licensed out to other firms, instead of being kept in research and development (R&D) centers.
Silicon Valley Loses Jobs in July; California Unemployment Rate Rises to 7.3%; EmploymentCrossing Unperturbed
Pasadena, CA — Silicon Valley is facing a rare occurrence as the region has suffered its first yearly job loss since July of 2004, thanks in large part to the bursting of the housing bubble. In the one-year period ending in July, the high-tech mecca lost 1,400 jobs, or 0.2%, marking its first decline in four years. Meanwhile, California’s overall jobless rate crept to 7.3% in the month of July, while the so-called misery index for the state, which refers to the rate of unemployment combined with the rate of inflation, topped 12%. Nonetheless, EmploymentCrossing’s figures give good cause to be untroubled by the reported depletion of jobs in California.
